Planning and threat assessment paper

Consider the following scenario:

Your client is a man in his 40s. He is confined to a wheelchair and requires attendance by a nurse 7 days a week due to respiratory and other medical conditions. He is a high-profile, outspoken, and controversial white supremacist; many people hate him. He has been scheduled to appear in court in his home city, Los Angeles, as a defendant to answer charges involving murder and violating civil rights. He is currently free on a $1 million bond; the local police are not providing any protection.

In recent months, the city has been terrorized by a series of related homicides of white supremacist followers and the brutal beating of the client’s assistant. The media have speculated that several victims have been linked to your client and the police suspect a rival white supremacist group is vying for political power in the movement. The police, however, have no direct evidence of that theory.

In attendance at the courthouse will be news organizations, fundamentalist religious groups, white supremacist groups, and civil rights groups, all picketing what promises to be an emotional trial. Security at the client’s estate has been increased because of threats on his life, but your client likes to speak his mind to everyone, especially the press. He plans to make a grand entrance and wants to meet with the press on the courthouse steps.

You are the head of a security detail of eight individuals for this day’s work. You must plan the expedition from your client’s home and back after the day in court, and security for the client’s estate on the beach. The client’s home is in Laguna Beach, about an hour’s drive by freeway to the courthouse.

Prepare a 1,050- to 1,400-word planning and threat assessment paper dealing with the above scenario. The paper must address:

  1. Concepts of threat and vulnerability assessment as they relate to personal and executive protection.
  2. Personal protection concerns related to transportation.
  3. Methods to consider when protecting large and small groups of people at work, social, or other events.
  4. Workplace violence.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Submit your assignment.

Regression and correlation analysis & anova

Regression and Correlation Analysis & ANOVA

Overview and Rationale This assignment is designed to provide you with hands-on experiences in performing regressions and correlation analysis. The data set is provided in an Excel workbook and contains a wide range to data types that you will need to work with.

Course Outcomes

This assignment is directly linked to the following key learning outcomes from the course syllabus:

CO1: Explore the use of statistical software in data analysis through hands-on applications

CO5: Conduct regression and chi-squared test of independency to study associations between numerical and categorical variables respectively; and justify the legitimacy of the regression model.

Assignment Summary

Using the data provided in the attached Excel workbook, apply regression and correlation analysis on two data sets.

Follow the instructions in this project document to analyze the data presented in the Excel workbook. Then complete a report summarizing the results in your Excel workbook (or R script file). Submit both the report and the Excel workbook (or R script file).

Project Description

Using the Data worksheet found in the Module 6 Project_ US Occupations.xlsx Excel workbook, complete the following analyses’ regarding US occupation data. Place the results in the worksheet specific in each part of the assignment.

In some parts of this project, you are asked to create random samples from a given population. Random sampling methods have been covered in Module 3, and tutorials are available in the Instructor Perspective folder in your Blackboard course page.

Part 1 (Q1)

The location quotients are given for NY (population 1) and LA (population2) in columns B and D, respectively, of worksheet Q1. The location quotient (LOC_QUOTIENT) represents the ratio of an occupation’s share of employment in a given area to that occupation’s share of employment in the U.S. as a whole. For example, an occupation that makes up 10 percent of employment in a specific metropolitan area compared with 2 percent of U.S. employment would have a location quotient of 5 for the area in question.

1. Use the random sampling method explained in the Instructor Perspective of Module 3 to draw a random sample of 350 from the NY LOC QUOTIENTs and a random sample of size 350 from the LA LOC QUOTIENTs.

2. Copy your samples into columns F and G of worksheet Q1.

3. Standardize both sets samples of LOC QUOTIENTs and display the standardized values (????) in columns I and J respectively.

4. For each of the two sets of LOC QUOTIENTs values, partition the standardized values into seven groups according to the following group specifications:

Group 1: Standardized values that are less than or equal to – 0.5 (that is, ???? ≤ −????. ????)  Group 2: Standardized values satisfy: −????. ???? < ???? ≤ ????  Group 3: Standardized values satisfy: ???? < ???? ≤ ????  Group 4: Standardized values satisfy: ???? < ???? ≤ ????   Group 5: Standardized values satisfy: ???? < ???? ≤ ????   Group 6: Standardized values satisfy: ???? < ???? ≤ ????  Group 7: Standardized values satisfy: ???? > ????

5. Next, count the number of NY and the number of LA standardized LOC QUOTIENT values that fall into each of the above seven groups and complete Table A. 6. Use alpha = 0.10 to perform a Chi-squared test of independency to test the claim that the standardized LOC QUOTIENTs and locations (NY and LA) are independent factors by completing Tables B, C, and D.

Important: In your report, explain your solution procedures and your finding.

Part 2 (Q2)

The data in Q2 consists of a sample of LOC QUOTIENTs for both NY and LA for 317 randomly selected professions

1. Complete Table A in the Q2 worksheet by calculating the slope and the intercept of the regression line and the coefficients of correlation and determination of the regression model.

2. Create a scatter plot of the LA LOC QUOTIENTS versus those of NY. Display the regression line along with its equation and the ???????? value on the graph.

3. Use the calculated slope and intercept in Table A to calculate the predicted Y values and the residuals in columns I and J respectively.

4. Complete Table B.

5. Perform the procedure for creating a normal probability plot of the residuals (v).

6. Check the independency of the residuals graphically (vi).

7. Check the homoscedasticity of the residuals graphically (vii).

8. Construct a frequency distribution of the residuals consisting of 18 bins (viii).

9. Then use the Chisquared Goodness of Fit test to test the normality of the residuals.

10. Complete your work in the designated cells of worksheet Q2, and complete table D.

In your report, explain your solution procedures and your finding.

Format & Guidelines

You must submit 2 files:

An Excel workbook file contains all statistical work, the formulas must be present in their corresponding cells.

The Excel file should be name as: (Your last name Week 5 Data)

A report submitted in PDF format, it should include all your findings along with important statistical issues.

The report should be name as: (Your last name Week 5 Report)

The report should follow the following format: (i) Introduction (Develop ideas and concepts about US occupations and statistical tool to be utilized. Be substantial and include references). (ii) Analysis (Separate sections by title, include all figures and tables as JPG, including their corresponding titles and descriptive). (iii) Conclusion (Include your conclusions about the observed outcomes, what do you learnt from the statistical tools used and the results? Use references to support your conclusions). (iv) References (Minimum two, proper format will be graded)

Report should be 800-900 words and be presented in the APA format.

NR360 INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN HEALTHCARE

In healthcare today, smartphones are widely used for communication, efficiency, and care. Obviously, a variety of issues (ethical, professional, and legal) from both the personal and hospital perspectives

must be considered. SCENARIO

You are a nurse in the emergency room, working the Friday 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift, and your evening has been filled with the usual mix of drunken belligerent teens, wailing babies, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbations, falls, fractures, and the routine, regular congestive heart failure (CHF) patients. Your best friend is texting you from the concert that you had to miss tonight because you were scheduled to work, and you respond to her between care of patients, jealous that she is there and you are not. “What a jerk to torture me like this!” you think to yourself.

It is now 2 a.m., and the medics radio once again, notifying you of an incoming motor vehicle accident victim, ETA of 5 minutes. You sigh and opt to use the restroom, rather than getting that much‐needed cup of coffee, and prepare a room for your next patient. The medics roll in and begin to fill you in. The patient is a 28‐year‐old male, a passenger on a bus that was involved in a crash, leaving the vehicle overturned after rolling over an embankment. There were several fatalities among the bus passengers, and “this victim has remained unconscious, though his vitals are currently” . . . and as you start to focus on the patient, you take a second look. Can it be? It is! The lead singer, Jerod, from the band “Blue Lizards,” who you have adored since you first heard his voice! The band had just left the concert that you had missed last evening when the accident occurred. You quickly text your best friend . . . “Can youbelieve?” and she responds with “Yeah, right. PROVE IT.” So you quickly snap a picture with your smartphone, when alone with the patient, and send it to her. Can’t hurt, right? Celebrities are “public property,” and that’s a part of their life, right? Just for good measure, you snap a few more pictures of the unconscious singer in various stages of undress and then a shot of his home address, phone number, and demographic information from his electronic health record. You sit your phone down on the bedside table for a minute as you continue your assessment of the patient.

At 7:00 a.m., you drag your tired body home and straight to bed after a long but eventful night.

What happens next? Choose an ending to the scenario, and construct your paper based on those reflections:

  1. You are the following nurse on the day shift and discover the night nurse’s phone on the bedside table. While trying to figure out to whom it belongs, you open the phone and see the
photographs taken the night before. Holy moly! What a find, and nobody could trace you to the photos.
  2. You receive a call from the gossip paper the Gossip Gazette, offering you $20,000 for the photos you have taken (courtesy of your best friend). Your identity would never be revealed, and you desperately need a new car and are behind on some bills.
  3. You go on Facebook, on your day off, and talk about the night you had at work and how youdidn’t really feel as bad having to miss the concert, because you actually got to meet Jerod in person and even “Got his number!” You then post a picture of Jerod on Facebook and

Instagram, figuring that most of your contacts would never recognize him anyway. It’s your day off and your personal time, so no harm, no foul, right?

4. You receive a message the next morning from a peer at work that there is a big investigation being conducted at work due to a HIPAA violation and that it involved a celebrity who had been admitted to the hospital. The word is that legal action is being taken against the hospital due to some photos that were sold to the Gossip Gazette. Knowing that the photo you sent is safe with your best friend, you reach for your smartphone, but it is nowhere to be found.

Cjus701-powerpoint presentation-south africa | CJUS 701 – Comparative Criminal Justice Systems | Liberty University

Scenario PowerPoint Presentation Instructions

Textbook-Terrill, R. J. (2016). World criminal justice systems: A comparative survey(9th ed.). New York, NY: Routledge. ISBN: 9780323356466.

This assignment will be very similar to the Mini-Scenario Research Paper Project.  However, it is our desire that not only do you become a great researcher, you become an “expert of the presentation.”  When you earn your PhD you may find yourself in a teaching role.  In fact, maybe you will be teaching Comparative Criminal Justice Systems!  This series of PowerPoint presentations will be a great start in your class preparation.

In this assignment you will find yourself in various countries as a criminal! In the scenario and analysis you create you will truly be an international criminal.  The “crime” committed can be of your choosing is long as it is illegal in the country we are studying.  You will find that this very deep dive into the criminal justice systems of each country we study will help you become a world criminal justice system expert.

The following is your prompt for the setting of your PowerPoint Presentation:

1) You are a US Citizen that is travelling to the country we are studying

2) You arrive at the country

3) You commit a crime

a. Make the crime interesting enough to write about

b. Make the crime of a nature that you will work through the country’s criminal justice system

c. Do not get caught up in the detail of the crime at the expense of the analysis – this will lead to failure of the assignment!

4) You are caught by the country’s law enforcement officers

5) You do not have diplomatic immunity and the country is balking at any means of negotiation with the US for your release from the crime and subsequent punishment

The following is an outline of what you should cover in your presentation:

1) Begin your presentation with a brief analysis of the following elements:

a. Country analysis

 i.  Introduction to the country

ii.  People and society of the country

 iii.  Economy

iv.  Transnational issues (if applicable) that may impact law enforcement

 v.  Relations with the United States

b. What is the basic government structure and its relationship to the criminal justice system

c. What is the “legal family” or basis of law in the country

d. What are the major components of the criminal justice system in the country

1) Please explain the following elements:

a. What crime did you commit? How were you caught? In other words, briefly set up the scenario.

b. Explain the country specific law

c. Explain from first contact through arrest and questioning your experience with the country’s law enforcement officials

d. Explain the detention process you will experience as a foreign national for the crime you committed

e. Explain the judicial process you’ll experience for the crime you committed

f. Explain the detention, corrections, and/or incarceration process you’ll experience for the crime you committed

1) Provide an analysis on:

a. The effectiveness of the criminal justice system in the country

b. The human rights perspective of how you were treated through the lens of the country where you were caught

c. A Holy Bible comparison/analysis of the criminal justice system of the country where you were caught

***Prepare a 10 to 17 slide PowerPoint Presentation*** Title slide(s) and reference slide(s) do not count toward the slide count.  The vast slide count difference is due to the fact that some countries are quite easy to study and some countries have very limited information.  In some instances there will be a plethora of information and you must use skilled writing to maintain proper slide count.  Please keep in mind that this is a doctoral level presentation.  Your research must go beyond the mere textbook and have a minimum of 8 scholarly sources.  The Holy Bible should be used at least once in the PowerPoint presentation.  Each slide (of the 10 to 17 slides) must have 200 to 350 words of bulleted or paragraph speakers notes (in speaker notes section of the slide build).  The slides should be professional and not cluttered with too many words.  The sources should be reflected in the speaker notes, slides, and “reference section slide”.  Additionally, you, the student, should use animations, transitions, and graphics to reflect PhD level research.  Please review the grading rubric when forming your presentation.  Sources should reflect scholarly work but may include .gov information is there is an author or if the information comes from a valid government research database (think CIA or State Department).

Strategy project: Individual SWOT and strategy generation paper  (14% of course grade)

Resources:

SWOT to TOWS assigned readings

Assignment Overview:  This week, each individual will use the group’s SWOT matrix to generate  strategies for overcoming business risks and exploiting business opportunity in the recommended country.  You have already developed a competitor strategy, so the focus this week is on other business risks and opportunities and how your client might use its strengths and weaknesses to gain strategic advantage (corresponds to  Section 8iii of Business Plan Template).

When the SWOT matrix is used for strategy generation, a TOWs matrix is initially generated to organize the SWOT data into an expanded matrix (TOWs matrix) .  The TOWs is an organizing tool to ensure that the strategies developed will effectively utilize the client’s strengths to mitigate the most critical risks and exploit the most important opportunities.  The  TOWS matrix is merely an expanded SWOT matrix with quadrants to be used for strategy idea generation, as described in this link:

https://www.driveyoursuccess.com/2011/09/strategic-business-planning-use-tows-to-move-swot-to-an-action-plan.html

You can see an example of strategy formulation from TOWS in this link: http://www.volunteerhub.com/blog/the-tows-matrix-putting-a-swot-analysis-into-action/

rubric for individual SWOT-TOWS Strategy is here and posted in the module ‘Grading Guidelines and Rubrics.’

Assignment Objectives: The  objectives are to use the SWOT data to propose specific business strategies (TOWS strategies)  that will (1) mitigate the identified risks (threats and weaknesses) for your client company’s entry into the selected country; and (2) exploit the identified external opportunities.

Step One: Preparation:  This is your idea generation step and reflects your primary analysis.  Develop  the TOWS matrix, specifying the risk mitigating strategies and the opportunity exploiting strategies needed in each of the TOWS quadrants.

For example,  if your previous analysis identified political ties as necessary to compete in this country (external Threat), but your client does not have those ties (internal Weakness), consider WT mitigation strategies (TOWS quadrant WT).   Perhaps a specific type of partner (politically connected/experienced) or some specific activity (like political lobbying) might mitigate this risk for your client.

Similarly, for the primary external opportunity support factors for this country,  specify a strategy that might leverage your firm’s  Strengths (quadrant OS strategies).  For example, if  your PESTEL analysis found an opportunity support factor in the country’s positive attitudes toward U.S. companies, consider how an OS strategy might leverage the U.S. identity of your firm (its Strength) in order to exploit that opportunity (e.g., perhaps by sponsoring an athletic event  and/or by using product packaging that highlights U.S. origins or culture)

For each of the TOWS quadrants, identify potential strategies that will help your firm to operate successfully in this external environment of  specific O’s and T’s.    Limit the potential strategies to no more than 3  in each quadrant of the TOWS matrix, focusing on the most important threats to be mitigated and opportunity factors to be realized.  This summary matrix should be included as an appendix to the formal paper.

Step Two: Write a formal paper explaining your strategy recommendations and referring to the TOWS data on which those recommendations are based.

Paper Assignment Requirements/format:

  1. Introduction. After the statement of purpose, the  Introduction to this paper should be the same as in your team’s week 6 paper (updated with any feedback), PLUS a very brief description of  the target Buyer and the size and growth of the target market (from your team’s week 6 paper, updated with any feedback).

 2.  The Body of the paper (10-12 pages) is solely your own writing:

  • List  those external Opportunity and Threat factors that you consider the most important and therefore will address with recommended strategies.
  • Recommend your strategies, explaining the rationale for each and why  you consider the recommended strategies the most critical/important.
    • The TOWs matrix should be in an appendix, and you can refer to it, but your text should stand alone with sufficient written explanation for your strategy ideas and recommendations.
    • Propose mitigating strategies for country and industry Threats;
    • Propose exploiting strategies for Opportunity and Opportunity Support factors.
  •  Write a Conclusion to your analysis that summarizes all the strategic actions you are recommending to mitigate risk and exploit opportunity, including the competitor strategy previously agreed upon by the group (this summary statement of competitive  strategy will be the same for all group members, taken from what the group has already developed).

3. Include :

  • Title page with your name
  • Approximately a 2 page Executive Summary that summarizes the entire paper  (including the introduction materials)
  • Table of contents
  • *The body of the paper (starting with the introduction) should have page numbers, starting with page one.
  • Reference list, including proper APA format for all in-text citations.
  • The SWOT/Tows matrix as an appendix.

Post the assignment in your individual assignment folder AND in the group locker by the end of the week and title it “SWOT and TOWS Strategies.” The team will proceed with next week’s assignment, using all individual members’ analyses, without waiting for faculty feedback/grading.

Where you are now:  With the completion of this assignment, you have addressed all risks  and opportunity and opportunity support  factors.  Each team member has now recommended specific risk mitigation and opportunity exploitation strategies that will help your firm  optimally operate in country, and the team has previously agreed upon  a competitive strategy for operating in country. The Team must now agree on which strategies  to recommend from these individual member analyses.  Once the team has agreed on the strategies that must be implemented, the team should update the draft business plan with these recommended strategies (constituting the last two bullets of section 10,  and sections 11 and 12 of the business plan template).

Looking ahead:  Next week, the team will develop and compare two alternative entry strategies (business structure and organizational structure) that will help your firm to realize the desired business strategies you have developed in this TOWS analysis., .  A corporate level entry strategy consists of both a business  structure (the entry vehicle) and an organizationalstructure for how your firm will operate in country.  You will want to design an entry strategy that will be best at implementing  the desired risk mitigation and opportunity exploitation strategies..

Note: Some of the risk mitigation strategies that individual members have developed here may lead directly to a type of  entry vehicle ; e.g., if the country requires a joint venture with a local firm, that  entry barrier has to be mitigated with  a specific vehicle (joint venture is the business structure that is required, and you would identify the type of partner and define the partner responsibilities in an organizational structure).

Other mitigation strategies may lead less directly to an entry vehicle.  For example, if team member(s) have  determined that a local presence  will mitigate some political risk and/or mitigate a competitor’s in-country advantage, the team may  consider what type of business structure (entry vehicle)   could best provide that local presence  (e.g., an alliance with a local firm,  a contract  with a local distributor,  hiring locals to staff a branch sales office).

It strategy case analysis | Information Systems homework help

To complete this analysis, you will:

  • Fully perform the five formal steps of the case analysis methodology we discussed in class and read about in our textbook while leveraging the knowledge you have gained from your strategy sessions. This includes:
    • Identifying the Key Question and a defensible SCQ.
    • Identifying which candidate solutions in the Issue Tree have been chosen for the Hyp. Tree.
    • Identifying and prioritizing key pieces of reasoning to research in the Hyp. Tree. (and later, which pieces are supported or not)
    • Creating a research plan that reflects the identified pieces of the Hyp. Tree, relative priorities, and their planned sources to check. You do not need to specify who to assign research to or whether it is primary or secondary (but you are welcome to do so if you choose).
    • Creating a recommendation that reflects a well-stated Big Answer, supporting reasoning, and supporting evidence for that reasoning.
  • Document the final state of the work in each step in a clear manner so that someone may reasonably understand and interpret what you’ve written (i.e. you don’t need to submit early iterations/drafts, only the final state of the work).
  • Submit the completed set of documented steps in one easy to scroll through document.

Remember: A good analysis is updated iteratively so that each part aligns well with the next (and the last).

Scenario

After a full day of meetings with the MDCM executive team, MDCM’s new CIO Shawn Atkins feels no closer to a solution. Frustrated, he turns to his “SWAT Team” – the nickname he’s given to an advisory group formed from an elite subset of the twenty-three managers he identified as high potential IT leaders – a group he’s asked you to lead.

Shawn has given you a short-list of questions to consider as a starting point:

  • What should MDCM’s strategy be going forward?
  • What broad implications does the business strategy have on our functional IT strategy?
  • What are some of the strategic objectives we should prioritize for IT?
  • What critical success factors can we identify for our IT strategy?

Disclaimer

This is a deliberately chosen “classic” case. This means that the story is old, as are the technology references, but the issues and themes are valuable and timeliness. In analyzing the case you should interpret any technology references as their modern day equivalent, and you should plan and propose in terms of our contemporary time and era (i.e. if they say Windows assume we’re talking Windows 7, 8 or 10, if you are thinking they should adopt a new online service you would look at contemporary options).

Submission requirements

Since most steps contain a tree diagram and the others benefit from general visuals, you have some discretion on how you create these, including:

  • PowerPoint
  • Visio
  • Hand-drawn sketches
  • .. or a comparable approach

However, irrespective of whatever method you use to create your work you must then translate into a single contiguous PDF document with 1-2 pages per each of the 5 analysis steps (i.e. your finished document should be 5-10 pages long). For example, if you were to hand draw out these steps (e.g. on a sheet of paper or a whiteboard), you could take a picture of each, paste those pictures into a MS Word document, and then save that document as a PDF. You must, however, ensure that whatever you create is reasonably legible to the reader (e.g. your professor).

Chapter 24 of janson’s history of art: art in the age of romanticism,

Choose two objects that are thematically related from Janson’s History of Art: Art in The Age of Romanticism, 1789–1848.

The two objects would be: “Jean-Baptiste Greuze. The Village Bride, or The Marriage: The Moment When a Father Gives His Son-in-Law a Dowry. 1761” and “Jean-Baptiste Greuze, Filial Piety, 1763”

Write an essay of at least 450 words using 12 point font and double-spaced text) comparing the formal treatment and iconography of each work. Be sure to identify each object by indicating the artist, title, and date of production.

Essay should address how similarities and differences contribute to your understanding of each work’s meaning or artistic significance. You should analyze these points: stylistic choices (e.g., abstract, naturalistic, idealistic, realistic), function or symbolism of the pieces (What were they used for? Do they communicate a message? Are they sacred or secular works of art), cultural context (e.g., how might the way of life at the time and place the pieces were created affected their function and style? Do historical events relate to the image or story depicted?).  You must cite at least one source that is not our text book.

Use Chicago-Turabian style notation for any sources that you need to document as references in footnotes. Double-space your text and list your name and the date in the header on the first page. In almost all cases, you should italicize the title of a work of art.

An sample of Chicago-Turabian style is attached below!

Community assessment (disc) | Nursing homework help

Discussion Question:

Identify a Community Health Assessment Model. (This document from the CDC lists commonly used community assessment models: https://www.cdc.gov/stltpublichealth/cha/assessment.html ) What are some benefits of using a specific model to assess a community? What agencies should be included with the assessment? What is a reasonable time frame in which to complete a community wide assessment? What is the role of the public nurse in implementation of the chosen model?

Your initial posting should be at least 400 words in length and utilize at least one scholarly source other than the textbook. Reference should be in APA 7th edition format

Chapter 9 journal | Architecture and Design homework help

This journal is a little different. We have now studied several different artistic media, so we’ll combine it all together.

What I’d like each of you to do is look through ECU’s “Love” show – up online at this link:

https://ecok.libguides.com/TheLoveShow/2021

Then we will do some curatorial work – meaning, evaluating the show and an individual work within it for a series of class awards we give out.

In your journal entry please choose one work and come up with an award for it. We’ll share the most thoughtful awards with the artists. Here is what you award submission should include:

1. Title of the award. (examples: “Best Drawing Award”, “Most Innovative Use of Linear Perspective”, “Form and Content” award, or make up your own.)

2. Title of piece and name of artist you are choosing for the award

3. Explain in about a sentence what the award means (artists may not all know what linear perspective is, for example)

4. Explain in about a sentence why the piece you chose has, in your mind, earned the award. What about it stands out and why? You can think of this as a visual analysis as well. Consider that the artist will learn something new from your interpretation of the work, so this is your chance to share knowledge from the class with them. Many of these artists have not taken the Art in Life course.

This is a 200 words assignment only .Please write in 1 or 2 paragraph maximum.
